We begin this week’s “RUFF TAILS” featuring a beautiful Golden Retriever named Nova.
We rescued Nova two short weeks ago from a terrible situation. Thanks to a loving community dog group, she’s now got an entirely new lease on life with our family. (named included Nova translates from Latin to “NEW”).
She’s settling in with us and enjoying her new home, and we’re enjoying learning lots about each other.

She is a pure golden retriever of unknown age. Being a rescue there is no certainty, but we’re guessing she’s around 12 months tops. She is incredibly playful, loving and trusting of humans, despite her previous circumstances. She loves snuggles (as you can see, she thinks she’s a lapdog), pup cups and rides in her JEEP.

There are a few things you can do to help support the environment by using sustainable pet products.
Most dog owners use biodegradable poop bags. Biodegradable bags are made of plant-based materials like potato starch or corn.

Compostable bags are certified and can be put in your compost pile.
We also recommend K9 owners to use a reusable towel for wiping your K9’s paws. When you’re wiping your K9’s paws, you can use a mixture of water and vinegar, if you chose.

This mixture is natural, non-toxic and it can help with minor infections, kill bacteria and microbes. Vinegar can help soothe itchy paws caused by allergies as well.
Having a poop bag holder to use will allow you possibly reach a disposable point, if available.

We recommend disposing of poop bags properly in designated receptacles when out for your daily walks. If there is no place to leave your dog waste, please carry it home.

Many pet care brands are now prioritizing sustainability and are committed to environmentally conscious practices, which is wonderful to see.
